Sunday, April 28, 2013

Met up with Myles this morning in Tahoe to tackle Saturday's Invictus programming. I did some light snatch position work while Myles went through the ladder (congrats on the 20# PR bruh!).

then,

EVENT 4 - THE REMATCH
For time:

40 Pull-Ups
30 Shoulder-to-Overhead (65/45 lbs)

compared to,
1:55 PR. Pleasantly surprised given I haven't done nearly that volume of pull-ups recently, and I did it at 6500'. Could have pushed sub-20 if I wanted to redline.

Put a bow on it. We done here.

270 - just missed!

Snatch at 270 felt great. Just a little lax at the bottom, but NO pain in my shoulder.

Then Brian & I poured at the wine walk from 2-5 before coming back to the gym for a last training session.

AMR in 10 minutes of:

It's been a minute...

First post in . . . (checking calendar) . . . 6 days? Nearly a week. Been an eventful one (I'll explain further in a later post), but I've been working to get back to a place where training is fun, and my life is balanced.

Training re-cap of the past week includes:
  • Tuesday: 45 minutes continuous lap swim (managed 1050 meters w/o fins). And a surprise trip to Tahoe that evening.

  • Wednesday: Fat Bar Complex (DL + PC + PJ), speed DLs & posterior chain accessory work.
  • Thursday: AM - 5 X 3 mile intervals on the Wattbike (rest 3 minutes); PM - Snatch work (see below)
225.
  • Saturday: Beach day in Santa Cruz! Swimming, (attempted) body-surfing, an impromptu workout involving 3-minute rounds of walking lunges, log flips, and burpees over the log. And general tomfoolery. Oh, and a trip to an awesome taqueria.
"Today was the first day in awhile that I've seen you smile - actually smile - during a workout."
Mission accomplished.
